What could be better than experiencing a French Market in Provence? Bringing that feeling home!
French Market Experience
French Markets are one of the quintessential experiences when visiting France, and our Jackdaw Journeys Tours feature them prominently in our itinerary for that reason, and for my own love of walking through a market with all its promise of discovery, sights, sounds, and smells.
Markets in Provence
When you join me on one of our Jackdaw Journey Tours to Provence you will have many opportunities to experience the French Markets. We visit a market by the sea in Sanary-sur-Mer, where you will find everything from olives, antiques, fresh fish of the day, local cheese and honey, straw market bags, shoes, French linens, and French scarves to name a few things!
We visit the Saturday morning markets in Aix, with plenty of time to browse through the stalls of antiques and clothing on the Cour Mirabeau and visit the Marché aux Fleurs (flower market) and to the food market located at Place Richelme.
We also visit authentic brocante (antique) markets in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. And, last but not least we spend time at the food market in Vieux Nice, along with Rosa Jackson of Les Petits Farcis, a cookbook author and fabulous chef who guides us through the market prior to our cooking class, to build a meal around the season’s best produce, fruits, fish, poultry, or meats and of course cheese and wine.
The experience will change you in the most wonderful way. It’s vibrant, inspiring, and full of discovery. You will never want to leave, and you will want to pack the whole experience into your bag to take home with you.
Bringing it Home
A friend of Jackdaw Journeys, Aimee, of Aimee’s French Market, has created just that feeling in her virtual French Market. Aimee heard the question ‘Where did you get that?’ so often she felt inspired to bring the French Market experience home, so she personally curated online stalls bringing authentic French Market wares and décor home to you. She features local to Provence products and Aritsans wherever possible, combining new and vintage. As you browse the offers, you will be transported back to your in-person experience or ready for your first one!
Aimee’s French Market features:
- Linens
- Lavendar
- Soaps
- Gourmet Foods
